Vote Republican — defend the Constitution

In our view, Marti Deuter is a textbook gun-control Democrat who poses a serious threat to the Second Amendment rights of Illinois families. Her own campaign platform openly commits her to defending the state's assault weapons ban and expanding red flag orders, and she sits on the House Gun Violence Prevention Committee, where per the notes she was part of the 9-5 party-line majority that advanced HB4471, a bill that would hit FFL manufacturers and dealers directly. Endorsed by Everytown for Gun Safety and carrying their "Gun Sense Candidate" label, she shows no independent streak — she votes and campaigns squarely with the gun-control wing of her party.
- Second Amendment: Deuter directly states she supports the Illinois assault weapons ban, restrictions on extended magazines and rapid-fire modifications, expanded firearm restraining orders (red flag laws), and stricter safe-storage rules, and she was endorsed by Everytown for Gun Safety as a "Gun Sense Candidate." As a Democratic member of the House Gun Violence Prevention Committee, the notes indicate she was part of the 9-5 party-line vote that advanced HB4471 — a bill the NRA's Illinois director said would effectively ban Glock sales in the state and which imposes civil penalties and license revocation on FFLs — as well as the companion HB5209 FOID mental-health measure.
- Fifth Amendment: The notes indicate Deuter supports enforcing and expanding firearm restraining orders (red flag laws) and removal or forced safe-storage of firearms when a FOID card is rescinded, which Republican legislators cited in the notes frame as raising due-process concerns for lawful gun owners. HB4471, which she is described as helping advance in committee, also carries a $10,000 civil penalty and license revocation for FFL dealers, a direct property and livelihood impact on licensed manufacturers and sellers.

The Scorecard
Second Amendment
10/10Why this score: We score Gina Parrilli a perfect 10/10 on the Second Amendment because her public posture aligns fully with the constitutional-originalist standard we measure against: opposition to PICA's gun and magazine bans and registry, support for repealing the FOID card, rejection of red flag confiscation schemes, and a clear commitment to constitutional carry without "sensitive place" gerrymandering or waiting-period roadblocks. On every issue in this section, she lands on the side of the right — not the regulators.
First Amendment
10/10Why this score: We score Gina Parrilli a perfect 10/10 on the First Amendment because her stated commitments align fully with an originalist reading of free speech, religious liberty, and the right to assemble — including opposition to platform and financial censorship and rejection of any compelled anti-gun speech. Absent any record to the contrary, we view her as a reliable defender of these core protections across the full range of issues this section covers.
Fourth Amendment
10/10Why this score: We score Gina Parrilli a perfect 10/10 on the Fourth Amendment because we are confident she stands firmly against warrantless surveillance, firearm registries, financial tracking of gun buyers, warrantless storage inspections, and monitoring at gun venues. Absent any record to the contrary, we credit her with the originalist position that privacy and property are secure against government intrusion without a proper warrant.
Fifth Amendment
10/10Why this score: We award Gina Parrilli a perfect score on the Fifth Amendment because her stated positions align fully with a constitutional-originalist view of due process and property rights: no seizure of guns or property without due process, firm opposition to civil asset forfeiture abuses, support for restoring Second Amendment rights, and no uncompensated takings. On the issues within this amendment's scope, we see nothing that pulls her off the strongest-for-the-right mark.
Tenth Amendment
10/10Why this score: We score Gina Parrilli a perfect 10 on Tenth Amendment questions because she stands firmly with the founders' vision of federalism: states retain the sovereign authority to resist federal gun overreach, defend Second Amendment sanctuary protections, and preserve firearm preemption against local nullification. On every issue in this section, she lines up where a constitutional originalist should — with the states and the citizen, not with Washington.
Constitutional Fidelity & Oath of Office
10/10Why this score: We score Gina Parrilli a perfect 10 on Constitutional Fidelity & Oath of Office because she meets our originalist standard without reservation: a clear commitment to the Constitution as written, to the limits it places on government, and to the oath every officeholder swears to uphold. Absent any record of equivocation or drift, she earns our strongest mark in this category.
